Curlew's Call

I've always loved the curlew's call, clear sounding o'er the bog and moorland wild,
In the land of the grouse and freestone wall and I've loved it as a child.

Chorus.

So willing and free must my sweetheart be to wander where the curlew calls all day,
then with swirling skirt and flying hair it's merrily we'll dance our night away.

I love the fields where wild flowers bloom bedewed with freshness at the wake of morn,
Where the May flower gives its sweet perfume as another day is born.

Chorus.

I love the marsh with the reed fringed mere, where geese splash down in search of food and rest,
From the red tinged sky of an evening clear as the sun sinks in the west.

Chorus.

I love the cliffs with the wave washed shore the silver track across the moonlit sea,
Where seathrift thrives and seagulls soar this is heaven enough for me.

Chorus.

I love the woods where the trees grow high bedecked in green 'til Autumn leaves be cast,
Thus in Natures works shall my comfort lie as long as life shall last.

Chorus.
